Magnolia

Large tree (20 metres tall) - Dull grey, relatively smooth bark - Young branches covered with a reddish-brown down - Very large evergreen leaves, dark green in colour, very tough, full and sometimes with an undulated edge, elliptical in shape, “waxy” on the upper and lower side covered with a rusty down, like the petiole - White flowers, large in size, highly fragrant - Fruit resembling conifer cones, housing fleshy red seeds.
